Books of Jasher & Enoch: Withheld from the Bible? (Because they gave too much truth)Book of JasherThe Book of Jasher is used in the Old Testament as a reference work inJoshua 10:13: "Is this not written in the Book of Jasher?", and 2 Samuel 1:18: "Behold, it is written in the Book of Jasher." {I am reading the Book of Joshua ISBN# 0-934666-25-3, Library of Congreess catalog # 87-72939, published 1988 by ARtisan Publishers PO Box 1529 Muskogee, OK 74402, a reprint of the former "PHOTO LITHIGRAPHIC REPRINT OF EXACT EDITION" published 1887 by J.H.Parry & Co, Salt Lake City - translated from Hebrew in 1840) The Book of Jasher gives a more complete historical depiction of what happened in the early Old Testament than the Torah itself does. Ages, actions, and times are better chronicled, and better details of teachings are given. The Flood is chronicled in the year A.M. 1656. Jasher describes: 1) the circumstances around the murder of Abel by Cain, 2) more details of the daughters of Adam and the ages at death of patriarchal wives, 3) more of the flood itself and how Noah handled the terrified multitude gathered around the ark just before he closed it, 4) a more detailed account of the genealogies of the descendants of Shem, Ham, and Japheth, and what parts of the earth they colonized. 5) and gives a particular account of the instruction received by Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, from Shem and Eber, through which they became so excellent in piety and wisdom. How could anyone leave this magnificent book out of the Bible? Book of EnochThe Book of Enoch is sometimes included in lists of Pseudigraphia, meaning writing under assumed names, and may have had diverse authors. The Book of Enoch is cited by the Testaments of the Twelve Patriarchs and by the Book of Jubilees, which show that it was considered inspired during the first and second centuries BC. It was later recognized in Jude 1:14, in the epistle of Barnabas 16:5 and in the third century by Clement and Irenaeus. Afer the first Council of Nicea in 325 AD, it was relegated as heretical. {I am reading the Book of Enoch ISBN# 0-934666-06-7, Library of Congreess catalog # 80-65736, published 1999 c1980 by Artisan Publishers PO Box 1529 Muskogee, OK 74402, a reprint from an edition edited, with variations, and published by John Thompson, Glasgow 1882 - translated from Ethiopic in 1821 by Richard Laurance, LL.D, Archbishop of Cashel, Professor of Hebrew in the University of Oxford) Enoch was the 7th from Adam, son of Jared, father of Methuselah (Genesis 5:18-24; Luke 3:37; Hebrews 11:5) Jude 1:14-15 states "And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, to execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him." The Book of Enoch was found among the Dead Sea Scrolls (see p.11 of "The Dead Sea Scrools and the First Christians" by Robert Eisenman, 1996 Element Books, Rockport, MA ISBM# 1-8520-785-4), and appears to have been heavily studied by the Essenes. Enoch 6:9 "The elect shall possess light, joy, and peace; and they shall inherit the earth (cf Matthew 5:5 and Psalms 1:1-6). Enoch 6:11 "Then shall wisdom be given to the elect, all of whom shall live, and not again transgress by impiety or pride; but shall humble themselves, possessing prudence, and shall not repeat transgression." Book of JubileesYou might also consider the Book of JubileesThe Book of Jubilees was a book that many New Testament authors had read. The book retells the stories of the Old Testament over again from a later perspective and has elements not mentioned or elaborated on in the Bible. The book relies heavily upon the work known as the Book of Enoch which influenced the authors of the New Testament, especially the authors of Revelation and Jude. Ancient Sumerian ManuscriptsThe Book of Enoch contains more information on various topics than the books allowed into the Bible.Ancient Sumerian Manuscripts offer even more information, and were translated by Zechariah Sitchin.
